It all started as a tobacco factory in 1812. In 1933 the national socialist government of the German Reich banned all machinery. That was the end of the cigarette industry. The construction boom was in full swing, so they decided to build a brick factory in 1891. The here manufactured glass clinkers were known over generations. Due to financial difficulties, the factory filed for bankruptcy in 1997. 350 employees lost their jobs.

The in the 1970s founded subsidiary company is still successfully producing ceramic tiles in Brazil. It's one of the global market leader's in this branch.
